Shumpei Takizawa is the Chief Operating Officer of Tokio Millennium Re Ltd. He joined Tokio Marine Nichido in 1987 and transferred to his current position in July 2006.

After 12 years in the Investment and Financial Planning Departments, he was transferred to the Commercial Lines Underwriting Department in 1999. While there he was in charge of Alternative Risk Transfer (ART) product development and insurance risk modeling, as well as research on the effects of global warming on the insurance portfolio.

Takizawa received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Tokyo University, Japan in 1987 and a Masters of Business Administration from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1994.
